Tax receipts and quick overview
Dear friends,
I sent the hardcopy of the gift receipts for your taxes tomorrow. I hope that all information is correct. In case of any discrepancy, do not hesitate to contact me.
For overall cheer up there is a picture full of smiles on the Documents page under Mails. It is from our meeting with currently supported students in TZA from the beginning of the January 2021 (some of the students are missing; some people are there “over budget” ;)).
We are planning to send a more detailed report during February / March.
Just a short one – our new students are doing well. They are on the top in their classes (surprisingly ;)). And just for you to have the least picture – they are waking up at 4 AM, following are three hours of studying on their own, breakfast at 7 AM, then school etc.
Also Ema is fighting like Simba. We wish him to manage his last part of his studies as good as possible!

News from the beginning of the new school year
Dear friends,
welcome in the new school year and we are sending you the news with the latest progress from our KiT organization.
In the last letter we informed you about Lydia and Godfrey successfully finishing their studies. We are still keep on supporting Jackelin. We started to support Emma, our Tanzanian coordinator, for the second time on his further studies and we started to support two fresh new student – Mariam and Naomi.
Mariam was accepted for studies in the government supported Msalato Girls High School (http://www.msalatosec.sc.tz/). In this school, the fees are low but the budget for buying the necessary school stuff went over 2 mil. TZA. We sent the money to Mariam on July 2nd 2020 and she started her studies on July 18th 2020. Mariam is sending greetings to all from Dodoma and on the Documents page, you can find some of her with bought school stuff.
Naomi was accepted for studying in very prestigious girl school Kilakala in Arusha (https://www.aaarushascience.co.tz). This school was searching for extraordinary talented students to whom the school was offering 100 % cover of the school costs (4 mil. TZA). Naomi was selected so we do not need to pay for her. But she still needs to buy the necessary equipment for her studies, books and uniforms in overall amount of 2,5 mil. TZA.
According to our rules we’ve sent her 2 mil. TZA to cover the majority of these costs. She is staying in the dormitory in Arusha what is luckily not too far from her home. She also started her studies on July 18th 2020 and her pictures can be found on the Documents page as well.
Just to refresh – Ema is studying a two years MS degree in Education Assessment and Evaluation (MEAE). The school fees are 10 mil. TZA. KiT will send him 2 mil. TZA for each year so 4 ml. TZA in total. Other costs will be cover by other sponsors and partially by Ema’s savings. Ema should finished his studies next year in October.
Another news is about the new way of sending the money to Tanzania by using mobile app World Remits. We already did try it and the transfer of the money was cheaper, more comfortable and faster comparing to Western Union. It is also offering better exchange rate. Using this app it is possible to send the money directly from the credit card. In Tanzania, the receiver gets the money directly in her or his virtual phone account. It is already well established and proven way of money transfer. Furthermore the first three transactions are completely fee free what already came handy ;)
The current amount on our bank account is 92,000 czk.
In October or November we’ll send the money to Jackeline. We were not able to get in touch with her in last days but we are suspecting failed or missing phone on her site. We’ll send more info from her in the next letter.
Thanks a lot for your continuous support! We really do appreciate it as well as the good news we are receiving thanks to KiT. It is even more valuable in these days than ever before.
Wishing you beautiful autumn days and stay safe and healthy!

Report on what's goin' on
Dear KiT followers,
despite the not-so-easygoing times we are sending you some news from KiT and also some short info on what’s going on in Tanzania.
As you may know last year we stopped supporting Godfrey who successfully finished his studies on Social Institute in Dar-es-Salam. He returned to Moshi where he worked as a volunteer.
Also Rose has successfully finished her studies in last autumn and now she is gaining experiences at KCMC hospital in Moshi.
And even earlier that year it was Lydia (Kazungu) who is currently working in TPC hospital in Moshi as senior midwife.
From the formerly supported students we keep on supporting just Jackline who keeps on studying architecture.
On the members meeting in last year’s August we talked about supporting new students. According to our current amount of money on our bank account, we are convinced that we are able to accept three new students.
In the middle of the last year we were told by Ema, our KiT coordinator in Tanzania, that he would like to continue with higher education. As we have already informed you on the members meeting in August 2019 and in January 2020 we decided to support him. Ema assigned him and already have entered the Master of Education in Educational Assessment and Evaluation in Mwenge University (MWECAU). It should take two years for him to finish it and it will increase his qualification. This should help him to have more and better opportunities in education and life as well.
Starting in January through March we were focusing on the new candidates classification and choosing the best ones to support. We received five essays from Ema. The best candidate for us so far is very gifted girl Mariam with excellent study results and also with well written motivation essay. We were not so convinced by the rest of the candidates either due to their school results or due to not so persuading essay. But we were approached by Ema who advised us another candidate – Naomi, the daughter of Veny’s elder sister Anna. She’d like to enter the A-level studies this year as well. We were truly impressed by her education results, they are equal to those of Mariam. So we asked her to write for us the motivation essay. Based on these facts we agreed that she will be perfect candidate for KiT support as well. All essays and details of all the candidates are available on the Documents page.
We have sent two mil TZA to Ema at the beginning of March.
We keep on supporting Jackelin. She still has two more year to finish her studies. We sent her the money for the last year in October 2019 and we are going to send her another two millions in October this year. She applied for the government support for the studies but she has received the support for the food and accommodation only so far.
Our current bank account balance is 100k czk after sending the money to Ema in March. Once we will send, the money to Jackelin (25k czk, 2 mil TZA) we still will have 75k czk. If we are going to support two more students, it will cost us another 50k czk. So we still should have some reserve (cca 25k czk).
Unfortunately the Corona virus hasn’t missed Africa either. Currently the schools in Tanzania are closed. There were some attempts to start the online education at least for the University students but due to the not sufficient equipment, it was not a success.
In our own view the Tanzania government is not dealing with the disease with appropriate respect and their safety recommendations are not sufficient. There is no restriction to the people on the contrary going to church is not advised. The facemasks are not recommended, it is more the other way and people do not share the same opinion about them. The healthcare is prepared for such situation but that is the same all over the world. People are taking resort in inhaling the medicinal herbs found in the forest.
We informed our current as well as the former students about the recommendations in our country and we advised them to buy some analgesics and disinfection supplies.
Nobody knows what is going to happen and everybody just hope that the black visions will not come through.

Despite the hard times
Dear friends a KiT sponsors,
regardless of the current situation with the spread of the COVID-19 disease we are here with short news from KiT.
Together we are working on the report for the year 2019. Once it will be ready and available we will let you know. You will be able to download it from Reports under the Documents section of our web pages.

Fingers crossed for him and we hope that together with our support he will be able to get all the money to pay the school fees. You can find more about his life and his family in the letter.
And last but not least there is also ongoing discussion regarding the new candidates for the KiT support. You can find collected essays under section Candidates.
