A Short KiT Report January 2022
Dear KiT friends!
During my short and very busy visit to Tanzania this January, I managed to meet/contact a few KiT students. Here is a short report:
August and Izack: Both boys came to visit me in our home. It was nice catching up with August after so many years and meeting Izack in person for the first time.
August is now a practicing doctor, General Practitioner at a local government hospital. Since he is working under a government and not a private hospital the pay is low. He is planning to continue with further education. His plan is to study Orthopedic Surgeon.
Isack is doing well in school, his first half a year has been quite less a struggle as he wanted to change his subjects from PCM to PCB in order to be able to study medicine once he will finish school, but the headteacher refused to change his course. Isack is now getting used to the fact that he has to to study these subject and maybe not be able to to become a doctor as his dream was.
Agnes: Agnes took her time to travel from Dar to Moshi (550 kms), just to come to see me. It was nice catching up with her after such many years.
Agnes is now a mother with a one-year-old daughter. She is living with her daughter and partner in Dar. As the system in Tanzania is very strick, she is fully back to work from the 3rd month after birth. She is a very active worker at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute, taking on several roles on top of her original employment as a Radiotherapy Scientist. Apart from her core position she works as Secretary of Quality Team at the Institute (Covid 19 related position) and as a Customer Relation Officer.
Agnes is planning to do further studies. She wants to do study Master of Medical Dosimetry at the University of Southern Illinois Carbondale, USA (distance learning).
Agness is very grateful to all sponsors. She is sending her greetings through a postcard, which is also attached as a scanned copy.
Mariam: I met Mariam’s father. He is still a proud parent and actively engaged in her daughter’s education. Being a teacher and an education quality officer, he knows which schools are good and the quality of the teachers teaching in different government schools.
Mariam is doing excellently. His father gave me her Mock examination results (Pre-national exams) and she had division one.
This June she will sit for her National exams, which will mean finishing her A-level studies. She would like to join the University of Dar-es-Salaam or Muhimbili to study Medicine. Fingers crossed for her exams.
Naomi: I didn’t see Naomi, but I met her mom. Naomi, as we know she is a super talented girl. She is an excellent student at her school, doing presentations for the school and the school is very proud of her.
The same as Mariam she did Mock exams and she passed well. She will be sitting for her final exams this June, aslo meaning finishing her A-Levels. We are wishing her well.
Deborah: The same as Isack, she finished the first term in form five. She is at a boarding school in Tabora , 661 km from Arusha. She get to see her parents during her two big school holidays per year (June and December). At school she is doing well I got her first results she has an average of A.
Yael: I was in touch with Yael’s mother as it was kind of bothering me why Yael changed her mind at the last moment, instead of joining the forestry college, she decided to go to classical A-level. So I asked her mother. Yael’s mother wrote a short letter, which is also attached. The letter is written in Kiswahili, but I have tried to translate it as follows:
Dears, I am Romana Alfred Mogessa, a parent to Yael Tito Salim, a girl that you have financially supported in 2021. I am writing to inform you that at the end Yael did not join the forestry college as was planned, we decided that it is better for Yael to coniniue with secondary education.
Yale joined Lugufi Secondary school in Kigoma (1 200km) from Arusha. After one month of school, Yael got very sick, we had to take her home and at the end we managed to transfer her from Kigoma to Erikisongo Girls school in Arusha.
We are very much grateful for your support and we hope that you will continue to support us for the second year in 2022 for her second year, which is starting in July 2022.

Jirny gave us three mobile phones and let it up to use to decided who among the KiT students should get this. The phones were given to the following students and ex- students: Mariam, Isack and Lydia
I know Lydia is an ex-student and now working a midwife. However, when I was in Tanzania her phone broke down and it was difficult for her to replace it. Meanwhile, we needed Lydia’s online presence as she is helping us a great deal with my mom’s illness (connecting with doctors, getting prescriptions and so on). Therefore, I took a liberty to give her one of the phone.

Šimon and Veny in TZA in January
Dear KiT friends,
short quick info - on January 8th 2022 I'm going with Veny to Tanzania. In my case just for a few days but Veny for a longer time. If anybody would like to send anything to KiT or any other kids there we may be able to deliver it. For example some older but still working electronics or a book (not too heavy :)) or some clothes or just some greetings … we are ready to help with that. If you will get any idea I should be able to pick it up at the beginning of the January.

News load in the new school year
Greetings friends!
We hope you are doing well and that your are making it safely thru the pitfalls of the new school year!
We are following up the previous news about our three new students - Izack, Deborah and Yaely.
The required administrative paper work was managed successfully and we managed to send them the money. All three students are subscribed to schools and Deborah with Izack already started their studies. Yaely should start her first year studies during October.
While we are already started with the 2021 report preparations you can check the draft on the page with DOCUMENTS. You can find there some info about our new students as well as the current ones. We've added there also some images of our new students with some info and also their thanks and greetings.
We are also mentioning Rose who already finished her studies. We paid her additional short ADDO course - Dispensing Certificate. This certificate is needed for advancing her subject qualification so that she will be able to manage (ar even start) her own pharmacy. There is also a note about her wedding (Congratulations!!! :)) with related photo.
We are also some news from Mariam and Naomi, how are they doing, what is the school life about and summury of their studies results so far.
Last but not least we attached an image of Jackelin during her field studies, her way coming back home, school results and how is she doing.
